The national drink of Puerto Rico, the piña colada is one of the favorite vacation drinks for people all around the world. Calling it refreshing won’t do it justice, that’s for sure – it’s likely the hardest to beat since a single sip makes you feel like you’re on the beach, relaxing while looking at the waves. This tropical drink takes about 5 minutes to prepare and it isn’t difficult to make either, which evidently adds to its popularity.

 

Ingredients:

  • 100 grams of caster sugar;
  • Pineapple wedge;
  • 60 milliliters of white rum;
  • 50 milliliters of coconut cream;
  • 75 milliliters of pineapple juice.

 

Recipe for Piña Colada: (1 serving)

  1. Put the sugar in a pan, add water, heat gently, and stir until the sugar dissolves. Then, let it cool before you use it for the drink.
  2. Take out your trusty blender and all of the ingredients in it, along with the sugar syrup.
  3. Blend the whole mixture until it becomes smooth, and pour it in a special Poco Grande glass.
  4. Garnish the glass with a pineapple wedge, and you can enjoy your tasty drink.

It takes 10 to 20 minutes to make, however, so don’t think it will all be over in a jiffy like with the classic and easy to make Cuba Libre, for example.

 

Ingredients:

  • Sliced lime;
  • The juice from 1 lime;
  • 4 ounces of light rum;
  • Half a cup of fresh strawberries (chopped, and keep a few whole for garnish);
  • A 10-ounce bag of frozen strawberries (chopped).

 

Recipe for Strawberry Daiquiri: (2 servings)

  1. Put the rum, strawberries (both fresh and frozen), and lime juice in the blender.
  2. Blend the aforementioned ingredients until the mixture is smooth.
  3. Pour the resulting drink in two glasses and garnish with lime slices and strawberries.
